Samantha Jagan

Hey beauties, I am Samantha Jagan, a professional makeup artist with two decades of experience in the beauty industry. Over the years, I’ve seen trends come and go, but one thing that has truly transformed the industry is the rise of celebrity-owned makeup brands. These brands often reflect their founders’ personal aesthetics and values, offering consumers a blend of quality products and unique brand philosophies. Here are some celebrity-owned makeup brands you need to know about, whether you love makeup or just want to step up your everyday look. Let’s dive in and explore how these icons are reshaping the world of beauty!

Kay Beauty by Katrina Kaif

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif introduced Kay Beauty in 2019, in partnership with the Indian beauty retailer Nykaa. This brand holds a special place in my heart for several reasons. For starters, it’s one of the most affordable yet high-payoff celebrity-owned makeup brands in India. The colors are so bright and clear, and the quality of the product is great for the price. The makeup at Kay Beauty is great for Indian skin tones and types. They have foundations, lip colors, blushes, and eyeliners, among other things.

My personal favorite? The Kay Beauty Eye Pencils. They’re buttery smooth, long-lasting, and available in a stunning range of colors. These are a must-try if you like to try new eye makeup. Their under-eye cream has gotten great reviews for how light it is and how well it works, but I haven’t tried it myself. In general, Kay Beauty stands out in the mid-price range because it has fun, creative, and confidence-boosting makeup for everyone who loves it.

SUGAR Cosmetics by Vineeta Singh

SUGAR Cosmetics is a brand created by Vineeta Singh. Its trendy and bold makeup has changed the makeup business. SUGAR is a great place to get bold makeup that lasts all day because it has high-quality lipsticks and kajals. Their Smudge Me Not Liquid Lipsticks are a personal favorite. These lipsticks are intensely pigmented, transfer-proof, and last all day without drying out your lips a rare find in the liquid lipstick category.

Another standout product is their Contour De Force Mini Blush, which comes in shades that suit Indian skin tones perfectly. SUGAR’s affordable price range and stylish packaging make it a favorite among millennials and Gen Z. This brand is a must-try if you like to try out different bright makeup looks.

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna

When Rihanna launched Fenty Beauty in 2017, it was nothing short of revolutionary. The brand made headlines for its commitment to inclusivity, debuting with 50 foundation shades that catered to all skin tones. The Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Foundation is a personal favorite of mine. It’s lightweight, buildable, and gives a flawless, pore-blurring finish that stays put all day-perfect for humid Indian weather.

What Fenty Beauty does, though, is more than just make-up. I love their Killawatt Highlighters, and the Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer is now a must-have in my makeup bag. Rihanna put a lot of thought into Fenty, which makes it a real game-changer in the beauty business. You can tell she cares deeply about each product.

Arias by Lara Dutta

Arias by Lara Dutta is a brand that seamlessly blends skincare with makeup, embodying Lara’s philosophy of effortless beauty. Launched in 2019, Arias focuses on creating high-quality, affordable products that cater to the modern Indian woman. What I love about this brand is its focus on multi-functional products think foundations infused with skincare benefits and lipsticks that double as blushers. The formulations, which are light, nourishing, and great for daily use, show Lara’s hands-on approach.

The Arias Anti-Ageing Moisturizer is one of my favorite bases because it does a great job of hydrating and priming the skin. This brand really captures Lara’s style, which is classy, useful, and powerful.

Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez

Selena Gomez’s Rare Beauty is more than just another brand owned by a celebrity; it’s a cause. When it comes out in 2020, Rare Beauty wants to encourage people to accept themselves and question beauty standards that are too strict. People are going crazy over their liquid blushes and highlighters for a reason. They have a lot of color, mix easily, and give your skin a healthy, glowing look.

One of the things I admire about Rare Beauty is its commitment to mental health initiatives. With 1% of all sales going to the Rare Impact Fund, the brand is as much about making a difference as it is about makeup. If you’re a beginner, you’ll love how user-friendly their products are. The packaging is sleek and functional, making it easy to apply makeup on the go. Rare Beauty’s ethos and Selena’s personal touch have created a community that feels inclusive and inspiring.

Honest Beauty by Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba’s Honest Beauty is a pioneer in clean and eco-friendly beauty. Founded in 2011, the brand is all about transparency, sustainability, and safe ingredients. I’ve tried their Extreme Length Mascara + Lash Primer, and it’s a game-changer. Not only does it lengthen your lashes, but it’s also formulated without harmful chemicals, making it ideal for sensitive eyes.

Honest Beauty’s skincare line deserves a special mention too. The Hydrogel Cream is a hydrating dream that’s perfect for achieving a dewy, natural look. Jessica’s dedication to ethical beauty shines through every product, making Honest Beauty a must-try for anyone who values clean and green beauty.

JLo Beauty by Jennifer Lopez

Jennifer Lopez, the queen of ageless beauty, launched JLo Beauty in 2021. This brand is all about achieving that famous “JLo Glow.” While the That JLo Glow Serum is a standout product, I’m particularly fond of the That Blockbuster Wonder Cream. It’s deeply nourishing and leaves your skin feeling incredibly soft and radiant.

JLo Beauty’s focus on high-quality ingredients and effective formulations makes it a skincare lover’s dream. The products are designed to work for all skin types, and Jennifer’s personal involvement ensures that they deliver on their promises. If you’re looking to invest in skincare that exudes luxury and effectiveness, JLo Beauty is worth every penny.

Star Struck by SL: By Sunny Leone

Sunny Leone’s Star Struck by SL. is a brand that radiates boldness and glamour, much like Sunny herself. Launched in 2018, Star Struck is known for its high-quality, cruelty-free makeup products that cater to a wide range of skin tones.

Matte lipsticks from this brand are my personal favorite. They have a lot of color and stay on my lips comfortably for hours. The Liquid Lip Colors are just as good; they have a smooth finish and don’t feel heavy. Sunny’s attention to detail is clear in the wide range of colors she offers and the high-end wrapping she uses. People who like makeup that makes a statement but is also easy to get and does good things will love Star Struck.

r.e.m. beauty by Ariana

Grande Ariana Grande’s r.e.m. beauty is a relatively new entrant but has already made waves in the beauty world. Launched in 2021, the brand focuses on lips and eyes, with standout products like the Midnight Shadows Liquid Eyeshadows and On Your Collar Matte Lipsticks. What I love about r.e.m. beauty is its ability to combine high-quality formulations with Ariana’s signature aesthetic-think bold, dreamy, and ultra-feminine.

The brand’s products are perfect for creating both everyday looks and dramatic, red-carpet-ready makeup. If you’re a fan of Ariana’s style, you’ll find r.e.m. beauty’s offerings irresistibly charming.

Kylie Cosmetics by Kylie Jenner

Kylie Jenner’s Kylie Cosmetics is the ultimate millennial and Gen Z brand. Known for its iconic Lip Kits, the brand has expanded to include eyeshadows, blushes, and skincare under Kylie Skin. I love Kylie’s lip sets because they have bold and trendy colors, but I do find that the liquid lipsticks dry my lips out a bit. Still, the colors are beautiful and great for people who want to make a statement.

The High Gloss Lip Gloss is one of my favorite Kylie Cosmetics items. It doesn’t leave a sticky film, keeps skin moist, and gives any look the right amount of shine. The name stays popular with young people because it can keep up with the latest beauty trends.
